BGS, BEd, AMI, ECE
Marisa Dritsas is the owner and lead educator of Kensington Montessori. Born in Vancouver and raised in North Burnaby, she has wanted to be a teacher ever since she was a little girl. Her mother, Athina Dritsas, founder of Kensington Montessori, was her biggest inspiration and supporter. After her mother passed in 2012, Marisa made it her mission, from the age of 13, to continue her legacy.
In 2021, Marisa completed a Bachelor of General Studies in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, with a triple minor in Curriculum and Instruction, Early Learning, and Social Justice in Education. She then completed Simon Fraser’s 16-month Professional Development Program in 2022, graduating with her Bachelor of Education. Since December 2022, she has been working as Teacher at the elementary level in the Burnaby School District, enjoying the opportunity to connect with students across a variety of schools.
In 2023, while continuing to work part-time as a Teacher on Call, Marisa completed her AMI Primary Montessori Teacher and Early Childhood Education training at the Montessori Training Centre of BC, graduating in August 2024. Since then, she has been dedicated to remodeling and rebranding Kensington Montessori, honoring her mother’s vision while creating a modern, welcoming environment for children and families.
Outside of teaching, Marisa enjoys spending time with friends, exploring new dining spots, going to the gym, reading for pleasure, and experimenting with cooking.
Marisa is passionate about supporting children in their growth, curiosity, and love of learning, and she is committed to carrying forward her mother’s legacy every day.
